Ursus International polo match benefit 2007

On 18 August, 2007 there will be a fundraising benefit in the form of a professional polo match at the polo field at Oakbrook, Illinois, to raise money for Ursus International.  The benefit was proposed by Mr. Jim Drury, who is hosting the event, and it has been organised and planned by Jim and a number of people who work for his company, James Drury Partners, and the Oakbrook Polo Club.

The intent behind the polo match is to donate as much as possible of the proceeds to Ursus International for the construction of a classroom facility.  The classroom will be the core component in an expansion of Ursus' remit, providing the opportunity to offer programmes and training courses at home.  The classroom, in turn, will be the first stage in the long-term development of a study-centre facility that will offer opportunities for study of a wide range of conservation-related subjects, with a focus on bears and the profound influence they have on general ecology.

It is very difficult to know what such an event will generate in terms of a funds, however, it is hoped that at least enough money will be generated to begin construction of the new classroom.  Whatever the outcome, Ursus International is extremely grateful to Jim Drury and the others who have given so generously of their time to organise this event.

If you would like to help Ursus International to raise money for the construction of its classroom, donations are gratefuly accepted.  To make a donation, go to our Donations page.  If you would prefer to make a donation with the chance if winning a wonderful prize, you could buy tickets for our 2007 polar bear trip raffle.
